Charlton: Francis (Fran) H. Aldonis, 83, of Charlton MA, passed away on January 24, 2022, at UMASS Memorial Medical Center – University Campus, in Worcester, MA.
He is survived by his four children, Randall C. Aldonis and his wife Michelle, of Rochdale, Terrie L. (Aldonis) Ayres of Sterling, Amy L (Aldonis) Lavoie, of Charlton, Mark Mitchell and his wife Linda, of Holland. Also, his sister-in-law Mary Lou Phelps and her husband Donald of Gloversville, NY. One niece Janine Baker of Worcester; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Fran was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Martina (Sornberger) Aldonis (Tina) and his son Jeffrey J. Aldonis.
Born in Marlborough, MA, Fran was the son of the late William and Mary (Kachan) Aldonis.
He was raised and educated in Northborough, MA and attended a year at Boston College. Fran was a standout athlete in several sports throughout high school. In 1959 he played professional baseball for the minor league team, McCook Braves, an affiliate of the Milwaukee Braves.
Fran served in the Army National Guard and was part of the 181st Infantry and was a member of the Northborough Police Department serving eleven years. After he retired from the police department Fran owned and operated his owning painting business for several years. He also worked at Incom Inc. in Southbridge for over 25 years. Fran was a past deacon for the Grace Chapel Baptist Church in Southbridge.
His competitive spirit and athleticism carried over into his free time as he enjoyed playing softball and golfing. Fran will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
A memorial service for Fran will be held at the Faith Baptist Church, 515 Dennison Drive, Southbridge, MA on Saturday March 12th, 2022, at 2PM.
