CHARLTON: Evna Louise (Cook) Wolfenden, 89, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, May 16, 2018. Evna was born September 23, 1928 in Charlton, MA to the late Walter N. Cook Jr. and Dorothy (Stone) Cook. She was a lifelong resident of Charlton and graduate of Charlton High School. She worked for 28 years in the cafeteria at Charlton Elementary School. She enjoyed selling Avon for 40 years.
Evna is predeceased by her husband, Alvin “Shorty” Wolfenden in 1997, her sisters Edith Wade and Dorothy Niejadlik, and her brothers Walter Cook III and Stanley Cook.
Evna will be sorely missed by her three loving daughters, Lee Dufault and her husband Raymond of Charlton, Lynn Smith and her husband David of Raynham, MA, and Lori Andre and her husband Ernest of Charlton; her nine adoring granddaughters, Shelley Schneider, Katrina Cavan, Sarah Griffin, Jessica Duquette, Angela Babineau, Melissa Andre, Michelle Finn, Vanessa Andre, Laura Smith; twelve great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson, her sisters, Mary Vigeant and her husband Peter of Charlton as well as Georgia Cudworth and her husband Douglas of Southbridge.
Evna enjoyed travelling, knitting and watching Wheel of Fortune. She dedicated her time to volunteering with Helping Hand Society and was a member of the Red Hat Society. She was a faithful, lifelong member of the Federated Church of Charlton.
Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Monday, May 21, 2018 from 5 pm to 8 pm at Belanger-Bullard Funeral Home, 51 Marcy Street, Southbridge. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at 10 am at the Federated Church of Charlton, Main St. Charlton, followed by a burial service at Northside Cemetery, Cemetery Road, Charlton.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Federated Church of Charlton in memory of Evna, PO Box 70 Charlton, MA 01507.
