Evelyn Guevara

SOUTHBRIDGE: Evelyn (Portalatin) Guevara, 47, died Friday, Jan. 8th at UMASS University campus after suffering from a stroke two years ago. She leaves her husband Trevor Guevara, a son Jason Guevara serving with the Marines in Iraq; a daughter Jennifer Guevara of Lake Worth, FL, her mother Justina (Medina) Portalatin of Southbridge;  four brothers Jose Portalatin of Southbridge, Carlos Portalatin of SC; Manuel Portalatin of No. Brookfield; Ricardo Portalatin of Springfield; three sisters Jovita Portalatin , Antonia Portalatin both of Worcester, Maritza Portalatin of Southbridge and many nephews and nieces.

She was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico the daughter of Justina (Medina) Portalatin and the late Jose A. Portalatin, and lived in New York City many years where she was an auxiliary police officer for the NYPD, moved to Lake Worth, Florida and returned here two years ago. She worked for Bloomingdale Stores, Sears & Roebucks and JC Penny\'s. She enjoyed playing bingo.

Calling hours are at the Belanger-Bullard Funeral Home 51 Marcy St. Southbridge, MA hours are 1:00PM to 4:00PM, on Thursday, Jan. 14.

Her funeral will be held Friday, Jan. 15, from the Belanger-Bullard Funeral Home 51 Marcy St. with a Mass begining at 10:00AM, in St. Mary\'s Church, 263 Hamilton St. Southbridge. Burial will follow in St. Mary\'s Cemetery.      .
