Evelyn (Batz) Oliver

August 22, 1917 — May 18, 2009

 

HOLLAND - Evelyn N. (Batz) Oliver, 91, of Marcey Road., died on Monday May 18, after a short illness.  Her husband Harold Oliver predeceased her in 1992. Her first husband Harry W. Batz Jr. predeceased her in 1980.  She leaves one son, Harry W. Batz III and his wife Romance, with whom she lived, and spent her last ten years under their loving care.  She also leaves three daughters, Sue Ann Raia and her husband Gabriel of Stillwater, NY, Pamela Langlois and her husband Sean of Enfield, CT., and Mary Elizabeth Batz of Middletown, CT; six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  She was also predeceased by two brothers John Pandolfe and Ernest Pandolfe, and two sisters, Joan Bryant and Phyllis Wice.

 

Evelyn was born on August 22 1917, in Newington CT, the daughter of the late Joseph and Assunta (Regina) Pandolph.  She lived in Connecticut most of her life, before moving to Holland, MA with her Son Harry and his wife Romance.  While living in Connecticut she had owned and operated her own Dance Studio for years. She was an accomplished artist and served as President for the Windsor Palette Brush Club, and was also an accomplished pianist and organist.  Her life was involved in numerous volunteer organizations, including the American Red Cross and Meals on Wheels.  She also served as a Girl Scout Leader and was a leader and judge for over 40 years with the Hartford County 4H Fair Association.  She participated for years in the Foreign Exchange Students Program, and enjoyed years of Foreign Exchange Students living in her home in Connecticut.  She loved dancing, bowling, golf, and spending time in her beautiful gardens in Connecticut. She also loved to travel, and did so extensively.

 

She was an angel with a smile sent from Heaven and will be so sadly missed by all who new her.

 

A private service will be held at the Belanger-Bullard Funeral Home, 51 Marcy St., Southbridge, MA.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the 4H Club of Hartford, Hartford County Cooperative Extension Center, West Hartford Campus, University of Connecticut, 1800 Asylum Avenue, West Hartford, CT 06117, Attn: Linda Horn.  An online guestbook is available online at www.BelangerFuneralHome.com
