STURBRIDGE: Ethel (Wood) Snell, 104, died Sunday, November 2, 2014.
Her husband Robert Snell died in 1980.
She is survived by a son, Ronald Snell of Campden, DE; 2 daughters, Roberta Madel of Sturbridge and Christine Snell of Stamford, CT; a brother David Wood of Michigan, 4 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
A son, Richard Snell died January 2014. She was also predeceased by her 3 brothers: Harold Wood, Clarence Wood and Ralph Wood and 2 sisters: Estelle McFall and Ruthann Wood.
Ethel was born in Amherst, the daughter of Clarence and Nellie (Kentfield) Wood, where she graduated high school. She attended Framingham State College known as Framingham Normal School then, where she earned her teaching degree.
She worked as a first grade teacher for 20 years in Milltown, NJ. Ethel and her husband moved to Sturbridge in 1969.
She was a member of the Sturbridge Federated Church and an active volunteer for the Sturbridge Senior Center and Harrington Hospital, she also loved to play bridge and enjoyed reading.
