STURBRIDGE: Elmer B. â??Tugâ? Gardner, 88, of Gardner Ave., died Monday, March 19, at Millbury Healthcare. His wife of 49 years, Dorothy (Ritchie) Gardner died in 1991. He leaves a son Bruce Gardner and his wife Bridget of Brattleboro, Vt., a daughter Louise Walker and her husband Lem of Sturbridge, a sister Norma Boniface of Sturbridge, four grandchildren Gregory Walker of Waterford,Ct., Jeffrey Walker and his wife Kerry of Southbridge, Jason Gardner of Hinsdale, NH., Brianna Seppala and her husband Brian of Eastham, five great grandchildren and several nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his brother Richard Gardner.
He graduated from Cole Trade High School. He was a WWII Navy veteran serving in the Pacific Theater.
Mr. Gardner retired from Boniface Tool and Die Co. and previously worked for Simonds Machine Company for many years. He enjoyed tinkering with projects and was know as â??Mr. Fix Itâ?. He was a past president of the Hayloft Steppers, he and his wife raised and loved Dachshund dogs.
His funeral will be held at TEN AM, Friday, March 23, in the Belanger-Bullard Funeral Home 51 Marcy St. Southbridge. Burial will follow at North Cemetery, in Sturbridge.
