Elizabeth (Betty) Dion-Foucher, 88 returned to heaven, surrounded by her family on Monday, April 18, 2022 at Umass Medical Center after a short illness. She now joins her husband Joseph Foucher who passed in 2015 and her first husband Arthur Lee Dion who passed in 1990. Betty had a large family that included her children, Lisa Dion of Sturbridge, MA., Richard and Nancy Dion of Woodstock CT., Timothy Dion and Kristin Dunlop of Chepachet RI., Kathleen and Steve Oslowski of Charlton, MA., and Gregory and Sarah Dion of Holland, MA. Her other children and their families included Joseph Foucher Jr., Debbie Rose, Karen Palmerino, George Foucher, and Joanne Foucher. Betty also has four sisters, Rita Lariviere of West Palm, FL., Marie Clemence of Southbridge, MA., Nancy Blais of Southbridge, MA., Susan Howe of Brookfield, MA., and one brother Alan Bourbeau of Leicester, MA. Betty also had eight grandchildren, Lauren Briglia, Stephen Dion, Brenden Dion, Maggie Herrick, Matthew Oslowski, Heather Oslowski, Robbie Dion and Nathan Dion, as well as six great-grandchildren, Mason and Charlotte Briglia, Rory, Bowden and Tegan Herrick and Jaxon Dion.
Betty was born in Ludlow, MA., the daughter of Armand and Philbur (Casino) Bourbeau. She worked at Harrington Hospital for over 30 years as the switchboard operator.
Betty’s greatest joy was her family and the love and service she could provide to God. She was a spiritual teacher and with her husband Lee, was one of the founding families which started Faith Baptist Church in Southbridge. She was a fabulous cook, and all were welcome to enjoy her famous pasta and chocolate chip cookie nights.
Betty was a faithful follower of the Lord, and many lives were blessed with her fellowship and bible studies conducted at her home. She dedicated the past several years to the caregiving of her daughter Lisa who through Betty’s efforts was able to remain at home.
Her funeral service will be held Friday, April 22 at 10AM at Faith Baptist Church 515 Dennison Drive Southbridge (Please go directly to the church). Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Southbridge.
