SOUTHBRIDGE: Edilberto (Ery) Aponte, age 55 of Main Street passed away Saturday the 18th of January 2014 surrounded by his loving family after a long and tragic illness.
He leaves behind his beloved mother Inéz Melendez of Southbridge, MA; his son Erick J. Vega of Kissimmee, FL; and his daughter Glendy Escarria of New Britain, CT.
Along with these family members, he leaves his seven brothers and six sisters; Carlos L. Aponte, Antonio Aponte, Orlando Aponte, Maria S. Aponte, Carmen L. Aponte, Ana B. Aponte, and Sandra I. Aponte, all of Southbridge, MA; Jose L. Aponte and Nereida Aponte of Sturbridge, MA; Pedro L. Aponte of Worcester, MA; Ramon Aponte of Oxford, MA; Rafael Aponte, of Kissimmee, FL; and Teresa Aponte of Indianapolis, IN; as well as his grandson, Jayen Escarria and his many nieces and nephews.
The son of the late Angel L. Aponte was born in Orocovis, PR; but lived most of his life in Southbridge, MA.
Ery worked in several local factories. He enjoyed gardening, detailing cars, and was a die-hard fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. He loved to help others and spent most of his days with family and friends. Most of all, he enjoyed all the special times spent with his large, loving family and he never took one special moment for granted.
His funeral will be held on Thursday the 23rd of January 2014 in St. Mary’s Church on Hamilton Street in Southbridge, Ma. For those who wish to attend, please go directly to church. His burial will be followed at St. Mary’s Cemetery on Charlton Street in Southbridge, MA. Calling hours will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday the 22nd of January 2014 in the Belanger-Bullard Funeral Home located on 51 Marcy Street in Southbridge, MA.
