PALMER: Eda Jean (Burrows) Woods, 88, formerly of Holland, died peacefully on May 10, 2013. She was predeceased by Walter E. Woods, her loving husband of over 61 years, who died in 2010.
She leaves three sons, Robert H. Woods and his wife Deborah of Palmer, Richard B. Woods and Carol of Port St. Lucie, FL, and Roger E. Woods and his wife Rosi of Palmer, as well as six grand-children, two great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves three sisters, Doris Beeman of Southbridge, Lucy Beeman of Brookfield, and Ethel Tobias of Turners Falls. Her siblings Bryant Burrows, Jr., Marion Olsen, and Edith Flynn predeceased her.
Eda was born in Bernardston MA, the daughter of Bryant and Hazel (Shaw) Burrows. She resided in Holland since 1941, where she held the position of town clerk for twenty years and town treasurer for seven years. She was also a Justice of the Peace and librarian, and retired in 1987. She graduated from Powers Institute and Salve Regina College. She enjoyed gardening and spending the winter in Florida with her husband.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Holland Congregational Church, 11 Sturbridge Rd, Holland, MA. on Saturday May 25, 2013 at 10:00am. Burial will be in Holland Cemetery.
