CHARLTON: E. Roy Baum 89 of Charlton formerly of Sturbridge, died August 12, 2022, at Harrington Hospital.
He leaves his wife of 65 years Sally (Kingston) Baum; 2 daughters Susan R. Durkin and her husband Thomas of Brattleboro, VT., Deborah A. Somadelis and her husband Jeffrey of Auburn, 5 grandchildren Michael, Emily, Caitlin, Jeffrey, and Gabrielle, 4 great grandchildren Bennett, Everett, Callum and Marley Rose, 8 nieces and nephews including 2 who’s children were like his grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son Stephen Baum who died March 8, 2002.
He was born in Melrose, the son of E. Roy Baum SR. and Anna (Schleicher) Baum he lived for many years in the Boston area before moving to Sturbridge in 1967.
He served in the Army during the Korean War.
After his service for our country, Roy attended college and earned his Bachelor's degree at UMASS Amherst and Master's degree at AIC.
He was Director of Human Recourses for the Neles-Jamesbury Corp. in Shrewsbury for many years.
He was a member of the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church and served on the church Vestry.
Roy enjoyed skiing, woodworking, bicycling, painting, and the Overlook Senior Moment brew crew.
His funeral service will be held at 10AM, on Thursday August 25, 2022, in the Holy Trinity Church, 446 Hamilton St. Southbridge.
