Dr. Ernest Borsari

SOUTHBRIDGE WILBRAHAM – Dr. Ernest J. Borsari, formerly of 98 Main St. Southbridge and recently of Orchid Valley of Wilbraham Assisted Living Community, died Sunday, June 21, at Baystate Medical Center, after a short illness.  His wife of 67 years, Ala P. (Pioppi) Borsari, died in December of 2002.  He leaves three sons, Dr. Leonard R. Borsari, and his wife Judith, of Wilbraham; William E. Borsari and his wife Gay of Carlsbad, CA;  Dr. Alan Borsari, and his wife Gail, of Fullerton, CA, and William E. Borsari, one daughter, Margaret E. Abrahamson, and her husband Dr. Richard Abrahamson, of Spring, TX. He has 8 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews, including N. William Pioppi and his wife Gen of Sturbridge.

Dr. Borsari was born on March 10, 1910, in Plymouth, the son of the late Ralph and Emma (Guerzoni) Borsari.  He grew up in Plymouth, being graduated from Plymouth High School.  He graduated from Tufts Dental School in 1936, and opened his practice in Southbridge that same year.  He was a visiting Instructor at Tufts Dental School for 17 years, devoting all his pay to the college in appreciation for the scholarships he was given during his medical training.   He was a member of the varsity wrestling team, wining many awards, including being the New England Wrestling Champion for four years. Following his retirement at the age of seventy-nine he became as avid craftsman of stained glass, specializing if replications of Tiffany lamps. He has generously gifted his creations to family and friends.

Calling hours will be held from 9:00AM o 11:00AM, Saturday, June 27 in the Belanger-Bullard Funeral Home, 51 Marcy St. Southbridge. A funeral service will be held at 11:00AM following the calling hours.  Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
