Doris Hutchinson

March 12, 1918 — September 22, 2010

SOUTHBRIDGE: Doris L. (Gay) Hutchinson, 92, of South St, died Wednesday, Sept. 22, at Harrington Memorial Hospital. Her husband Lawrence Hutchinson died in 1999. She leaves a son, William W. Hutchinson, of Damascus, MD; a daughter, Gay C. Roberts, of Southbridge; four grandchildren, John Hutchinson, David Hutchinson, Nathan Roberts, and Stephen Hutchinson; two great-grandchildren, James and Olivia. She was predeceased by her brother Walter Gay.

 

She was born in Southbridge, the daughter of Walter E. and Stella I. (Wood) Gay and lived in the area all her life. Doris graduated from Bryant College and Northfield College. She was an executive secretary to the president of the American Optical.  After the birth of her first child, she chose to stay home and raise her children.

 

She was a member of the Methodist Church of Southbridge. She enjoyed gardening and reading.

 

A graveside service will be held at 1:00PM, Monday, Sept. 27th in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Everett St. Southbridge.

 

There are no calling hours.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Methodist Church of Southbridge, 449 Main St, Southbridge, Ma. 01550 or to the Second Chance Animal Shelter, 11 Young Rd. PO BOX 136, East Brookfield, Ma 01515.
