BRIMFIELD: Donald Ast, 73 of Brookfield Rd, died Thursday, April 25, at UMASS Memorial Hospital after a short illness. His wife Elizabeth (Hammesfahr) Ast died April 25, 2007.
He leaves a son William Ast of Galt, CA, a step-son Daniel Krause of Lawrence Harbor, NJ, a sister Dorothy Green of Ohio, a granddaughter Ashley Ast of Port Richey, FL.
He was predeceased by son Donald Ast who died in 2012, a steps-son Arthur Krause who died in 2001 and by brothers William Ast, Edward Ast, and a sister Marie Southward.
He was born in Red Bank, NJ, the son of William and Minnie (Kugler) Ast and lived in the Brimfield area many years.
Donald was a supervisor for Siemens Company for many years traveling throughout the world on water purification projects.
He was a member of the Central Baptist Church where he was a Deacon, treasurer, and moderator.He was a former member of the Mummers while living in New Jersey.
His funeral service will be held at 4:00PM on Wednesday, May 1, in the Central Baptist Church, 256 Main St. Southbridge. Burial will be in New Jersey.
Calling hours are 6:00PM to 800PM, Tuesday, April 30, in the Belanger-Bullard Funeral Home, 51 Marcy St. Southbridge.
