CHARLTON – David Allen Lawrence, Jr., 84, of Mugget Hill Rd., died Monday, April 12, at the home of his long time friend, Eleanor Beaudry. He also leaves three sons, David A. Lawrence, III, and his wife, Dixie, of Brookfield, James Lawrence, and his wife, Debra, of Charlton, and Dan Peter Lawrence, of Charlton; a twin sister, Louise Boulanger, of Albany, NY; four grandchildren, David A. Lawrence, IV, of Pennsylvania, Scott Lawrence, of Ware, Richard Lawrence, and Michael Lawrence, both of Charlton; 4 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Marion Cooper.
He was born in Southbridge, the son of the late David A., Sr., and Margaret (Taylor) Lawrence, and lived in the area his entire life. He was a SEABEE, serving in the South Pacific during World War II for which he was awarded a bronze star. After returning home, Dave and his wife, June made their home in Charlton. He was active in many town affairs including the Fire Department, where he served as deputy chief and captain, the Board of Health, which he was involved with for 15 years, and the Council on Aging.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00am, Friday, April 16, in the Charlton Federated Church, 64 Main St., Charlton, MA. Burial will follow in West Ridge Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Overlook Hospice Services, 88 Masonic Home Rd., Davenport 2nd Floor, Charlton, MA 01507.
