David W. (Dave) Gopfert of Pittsfield, MA, formerly of Spencer, MA, passed away unexpectedly on June 1, 2018. Dave was born in Leominster, MA on March 28, 1939. After graduating from Leominster High School, Dave enlisted in the Army National Guards.
He retired from Dun & Bradstreet’s Marketing Department in the late 90’s. Never one to remain idle, in 2003, Dave, with his wife, Donna, co-founded Berkshire Fabric & Wallpaper Corporation which they operated together.
Dave had a passion for life, living it to its fullest, and always seeing the positive. He lit up a room with his smile and humor. Never inactive when not ‘on the job,’ Dave was an avid downhill skier, a Formula 1 race car enthusiast, and one of the earliest members of the Village Racquet Club in Charlton where he remained a part of the men’s league to present day. Dave loved enjoying a game of golf with his wife on Sundays.
Dave’s passion was “living life to the fullest.” His philosophy was, “LEARN SOMETHING NEW EVERY DAY....AND THEN HAVE FUN!”. Dave loved and enjoyed people and was loved in return.
Dave is pre-deceased by his father, Alfred Gopfert, and his mother, Geraldine (Howard) Gopfert. He is survived by his beloved wife, Donna Boulanger Gopfert, his son, David G. and wife, Marcy, of Sutton, MA., and his daughter, Dawn Labriola, and husband, Ralph, of Kingston, MA. Dave’s grandchildren were the highlight of his life...he leaves Amanda and Julianna Labriola and Rachel, Carley, and Wesley Gopfert.
In addition, he leaves three brothers, Carl of New Hampshire, Richard of Florida, and Arthur of Washington State.
A Celebration of Dave’s Life will be held at the Southbridge Hotel & Conference Center on June 23rd from 3pm to 7pm. You may view the online invitation,
