Catalina Rodriguez

SOUTHBRIDGE: Catalina Rodriguez (Aponte), 88 of Overland Street died Saturday, January 23, 2016 in her home after an illness.

Catalina leaves nine children: Maria S. Pagan of Guaynabo, PR, Roberto Rodriguez of Ocala, FL, Teodosio Rodriguez, Sr of Chelsea, MA, Jose H. Rodriguez of Southbridge, Jose A. Rodriguez of Lynn, Catalino Rodriguez, Jr of Medford, Celida Rodriguez-Valentin of Southbridge, Aleida Nuñez of Dorcester, and Glenda A. Rodriguez of Southbridge. She also leaves 38 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. Catalina’s husband, Catalino Rodriguez, Sr. predeceased her in 2013. She is also predeceased by two sons: Jaime Rodriguez and Pedro Rodriguez.

Catalina was born on March 18, 1927 in Orocovis, Puerto Rico the daughter of the late Jesus and Francisca (Serrano) Aponte. She lived in Puerto Rico for 40 years prior to moving to Massachusetts, where she has lived since.

Catalina worked doing many different things at a young age, but her favorite was being a homemaker most of her life. She enjoyed cooking, being with family and telling old stories of family members. She attended church until she became ill. She read the bible and did crossword puzzles when she had free time.

Calling hours for Catalina will be held on Tuesday, January 26 from 5:00-8:00 P.M. in the Belanger-Bullard Funeral Home, 51 Marcy Street, Southbridge, MA.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 27 at 10:00 A.M. in the Belanger-Bullard Funeral Home. Burial will follow the service in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Southbridge, MA.
