SOUTHBRIDGE: Carolyn L. Allen, 79, died Saturday, July 1, in Harrington Memorial Hospital after a long battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis.
Carolyn is survived by her daughters: Deborah Davis and her husband Leonard of Southbridge and Laura Normandin of Charlton, four grandchildren: Stephanie Mailloux, Emily Guinta, Tiffany Cleveland and Leanne Normandin; and six great-grandchildren.
Carolyn was born on December 24, 1937 to Walter and Luella (Wilson) Leigh in Southbridge, MA. She lived in the area most of her life, although she lived in Germany when her husband was stationed there and in California and in Rhode Island briefly. She graduated from Mary E. Wells High School and continued her education at Worcester State University. She retired from Worcester Gear Works after many years as a Bookkeeper. After her retirement, she worked part time as a receptionist at the YMCA in Southbridge until March of this year.
Carolyn enjoyed ballroom dancing, reading, archery, travel and music. She was a Girl Scout leader and a member of the Southbridge Methodist Church.
A gathering for friends and family celebrating Carolyn's life will be held on Saturday, July 15th at 3:30 P.M. at 130 Towne Farm Road, Brookfield, MA 01506.
