SOUTHBRIDGE: Bertrade R. (Gagne) Jolin, 98, died Thursday Feb. 21st. Her husband Jean Jolin died in 1980. She was a loving mother and grandmother of two sons, Lucien and his wife Jean Jolin of Southbridge and Albert and his wife Pat Jolin of Boylston, two daughters Ruby Richardson of Southbridge and Patricia Simonelli of Sturbridge, her 9 grandchildren Rebecca and her husband Jeff Bruso, Pamela Simonelli, Michelle and her husband Dominck Rosa, Bradley and his wife Diane Simonelli, Kish and her husband David Figueora, Mark and his wife Samantha Jolin, David Jolin, William and his wife Julie Simonelli, Stephanie and her husband James Higgins, Mark Stone, Jason Stone, Robert Stone, Kristin Espinet, great grandchildren Justin, James, Brittany, Nolan, Brianna, Nathan, Gabrielle, Haley, Connor, Bradley, Ashley, Maya, Anna, Christian, Samuel, Christopher, Riley, Robert, Jessie, Jordan and nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by a grandson Matthew Jolin and her brothers and a sister Roland Gagne, Harry Gagne, Christian Gagne and Renee Huard.
She was a member of Sacred Heart parish.
The daughter of Narcisse Gagne and Fabiola (LaVigne) Gagne, she was born in Actonvale PQ, Canada moving to Southbridge in 1922. Mrs. Jolin attended the former Marcy St. Elementary School and the former Mary E. Wells High School in Southbridge. She had been employed as a polisher at the American Optical for 35 years retiring in 1967 and was a member of the firmâ??s Quarter Century Club.
Mrs. Jolin was an accomplished seamstress and loved cooking dinners for her family. She enjoyed working in her gardens, which once beatified her house on Worcester Street.
Her funeral will be held at 9:00AM, Monday, March 3rd from the Belanger-Bullard Funeral Home 51 Marcy St. followed with a Mass 10:00AM in Sacred Heart Church, Charlton St. Calling hours are Sunday, March 2nd from 3:00PM to 6:00PM in funeral home.
