CHARLTON: Barbara (Grimwade) Meservey, 94, of Knollwood Drive, died Monday, December 31, at Quaboag on the Common in West Brookfield. Her husband William J. Meservey died in 2012.
She leaves her son Roger Meservey, a sister Anne Bodine of Orrs Island, Maine, nephews, nieces, and cousins. She was predeceased by an infant son Ronald Meservey and her brother R. Reed Grimwade.
Barbara was born in Worcester, the daughter of Roger and Doris (Reed) Grimwade and lived in Charlton all her life.
She graduated from Charlton High School in 1942, and Wellesley College in 1946.
She was an elementary school teacher in Charlton for many years. She recently celebrated her 70th class reunion at Wellesley College.
After her retirement she volunteered at Harrington Hospital. She enjoyed playing bridge, golfing and entertaining in her home.
She often took long rides in the countryside along with her son Roger and admired farms and nature. They also enjoyed traveling to Maine. Most of all Barbara enjoyed her family and cherished every moment with them
She was a member of the Retired Charlton Teachers Group.
A private service was held.
