Barbara Godbout

STURBRIDGE:  Barbara E. (Hutchinson) Godbout, 80, of Jackson, Michigan, formerly of Yuba City, CA and Sturbridge, died peacefully on Tuesday, April 14, in her home after a long illness. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald W. Godbout in 1991.

She is survived by three daughters, Rosemary Gunsett, and her husband, John, of Horton, Michigan, Barbara Faust, and her husband, Gerald, of San Diego, CA, and Judith Ann Daviau, of San Diego, CA; two stepdaughters, Sharon DeVince, and her husband, Frances, of Little River, South Carolina, and Joyce Clark, and her husband, Larry, of Broomfield, CO; two stepsons, Gerald Godbout, and his wife, Karen, Salina, Ks, and Paul Godbout, of Mesquite, Nevada; one brother, Winfred O. Hutchinson, Jr., and his wife, Genie, of Manchester, NH; one sister, Betty Lovering, and her husband, Richard, of Deerfield, NH; 34 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.  She was predeceased by one step daughter, Pat Volpe, and a sister, Virginia Greenlaw.

She was born on August 10, 1928, in Haverhill, MA, the daughter of the late Winfred O. and Velma G. (Owen) Hutchinson.  She worked for many years as a home health aide, caring for an enormous number of sick, elderly, and home hospice patients. Mrs. Godbout was also a Eucharistic Minister.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10:00am, Wednesday, April 22, at St. Anne’s Church, 16 Church St., Fiskdale.  A calling hour will be held from 8:30 to 9:30am, before the Mass, in the Belanger-Bullard Funeral Home, 51 Marcy St., Southbridge.  Burial will follow in St. Anne’s Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Anne’s Church, 16 Church St., Sturbridge, MA 01518 or to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 711 Francis St., Jackson, MI 49201.  An online guest book is available at www.BelangerFuneralHome.com.
