Barbara Farinella

December 12, 1939 — October 25, 2006

SOUTHBRIDGE: Barbara Ann (Lauro) Farinella, 66, of Southbridge was stricken ill and passed away at Hartford Hospital, CT, Oct. 25, 2006. She leaves her mother Sue (Zasky) Lauro of Yonkers, NY. Her father Sebastian Lauro predeceased her in 1996. She leaves her daughter, Dawn Marie Poisson and her husband Michael of Dudley, and three sons, Anthony Mauro and his wife Michelle of Southbridge, Gerald Farinella of Brookfield, and Brian Mauro and his wife Deline of Stockbridge, GA. She also leaves her sister Karen Yocca and her husband Frank of McMurray, PA, and two brothers Robert Lauro and his wife Marge, and Richard Lauro and his wife Sue, of Patterson, NY. She was loved dearly by seven grandchildren, Nicholas, Zachary, Stevie-Lynn, Michael, Ansley, Stacey, and A.J. She also enjoyed many nieces and nephews. Barbara was blessed with many lifelong friendships and especially enjoyed any family gathering, as she was very close to her family. Barbara was born in the Bronx, NY and moved to Southbridge 35 years ago. She was employed by Harrington Hospital since 1993 as an Emergency Room Secretary, as well as a bookkeeper for her son, Anthonyâ??s automotive shop for many years. Barbara was a Born-Again Christian and was a member of Faith Baptist Church for many years and recently was an active member of Holland Congregational Church. She held the position of Chaplain, for the State of MA, Polish American Veterans Auxiliary and various positions with the Polish American Veterans of Southbridge. She was a member of the Red Hat Society of Sturbridge. She received many Certificates of Appreciation from the American Red Cross for being an enthusiastic blood donor over the years. She often participated in the Walk for Cancer. She took pleasure in knitting, gardening and traveling. Calling hours are from 6:00 to 9:00 Tuesday, October 31, at the Belanger-Bullard Funeral Home, Marcy St., Southbridge. Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday November 1st, at the Sturbridge Federated Church, Rt 131 and Maple St. Sturbridge. Burial will be Kensico Cemetery in Valhalla, NY on Thursday, November 2nd, at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Red Cross, 1800 Rustcraft Rd, Dedham, MA 02026 Attn: Lisa Beaulieu or call 1-800-Give Life.
