SOUTHBRIDGE: Augusto Simoes, 87, of Pearl St. died Sunday, November 25, at his home after an illness. He leaves his wife Maria (Ribeiro) Simoes; three sons Armando Simoes and his wife Luzminda of Southbridge, Fernando Simoes of Charlton, Paul Simoes of Rutland; four brothers, Armando Simoes, Sose Simoes, Hilario Simoes, Adolfo Simoes- of Portugal, four grandchildren Sabrina, Wesley, Daniel, Arminda and nephews and nieces. He was born in Portugal the son of Joaquim and Maria (Deoliveira) Simoes and lived here many years.
He retired from the American Optical Co. after many years of service. He was a member of Sacred Heart Parish. He enjoyed soccer, hunting and fishing. He was an avid fan of Porto Soccer Club in Portugal.
His funeral will be held at 9:00AM Wednesday, November 28, from the Belanger-Bullard Funeral Home 51 Marcy St. followed with a Mass at 10:00Am in Sacred Heart Church, Charlton St. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Calling hours are 5:00PM to 8:00PM Tuesday, Nov. 27, in the funeral home.
