Andrew L. Asselin, 89, of 24 Raymond Avenue, S. Yarmouth, Mass. died on the 4th of November while at the Newton Health Care Center after a long illness.
He leaves his wife of 67 years, Theresa (Jolicoeur) Asselin, two daughters Suzanne Sege of Sudbury, Mass. and Dray Roseboom of Orlando, Florida and a son Michael Tyler of Salem, Mass. He also leaves behind 6 grandchildren Beth, Chris, Jon, Charryse, Ayla and Cody, and 5 great grand-children.
Andrew was born in Southbridge, the son of Helas and Florida (Vincent) Asselin. He moved to Cape Cod in 1970.
Andrew was a WW II veteran who served in the Pacific on the USS Spence as Machinist Mate 2nd class. After being burned in an engine room accident he continued his service at the USN Auxiliary Air Station in Los Alimitos, California.
Andrew returned home to work as a tool and die worker for A & M Tool and Die in Southbridge and Packaging Industries in Hyannis, Mass.
After retiring he started a locksmith "Handy Andy" and knife sharpening business.
His funeral will be held on Saturday, November 24, from the Belanger-Bullard Funeral Home, 51 Marcy St. Southbridge followed with a Mass at 10:00AM, in Blessed John Paul II Parishes at Notre Dame, 446 Main St. Southbridge, MA. Burial will follow in New Notre Dame Cemetery.
A calling hour will be held from 8:30 Am to 9:30Am in the funeral home prior to the Mass.
