Albert Joseph Jette, a resident of Wales, Ma, passed away on Monday, November 26, 2018 after a short illness. Albert was born in Chicopee, MA on June 19, 1931 to Albert E. Jette of Chicopee and Mary (Bradford) Jette from Belfast Ireland.
Albert married Teresa Poliuk in 1951. They were together on their farm in Wales for fifty-eight years, until Teresa’s death in 2010. He was also predeceased by his son, James M. Jette, his brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Anita Jette of Wales, his brother-in-law William Chevalier, several nephews, aunts and uncles. He leaves two sisters, Hermine Hurst and her husband Francis of Chicopee, and Virginia Chevalier of Peterborough New Hampshire. He leaves three children and their spouses, his son, Joel Jette and his wife Gail Jette of Wales, his son, Jonathan Jette of Vernon Ct., and his daughter, JoAnne Higgins and her husband Peter Higgins of Wales. Albert also leaves his grandchildren; Pearl Higgins, Arthur Higgins, Jasmine Jette, Kelly Collins, Gina Olearczyk, Mai Grover and seven great grandchildren.
Albert worked in many vocations throughout his life. He was employed as a short order cook, logger and textile worker among other things. He worked in the textile industry for many years and was employed at Ware Knitters and Hardwick Knitters. He also raised cattle on his farm in Wales until his death. He was an active volunteer for the Wales Recreation Department and took care of the town beach for 35 years. Albert was a communicant at St Anne’s church in Fiskdale, MA and had many friends at the Holland Community Center. He loved animals, particularly “his damn cows” as Mom would say. He enjoyed music and dancing, and in his younger days, he liked to go fishing, hunting and being outdoors. He was very proud of the self-sufficiency of the farm in the early years of their residency in Wales.
Calling hours are 6 to 8PM Sunday December 2, in the Belanger-Bullard Funeral Home, 51 Marcy St. Southbridge.
Albert’s funeral Mass will be held at 10AM, Monday December 3, in St. Anne’s Church, Church Street, Fiskdale section of Sturbridge. Burial ill follow in St. Anne’s Cemetery Sturbridge.
